Operations Resilience

Resilience is a key focus for executives managing operations and supply chains. This paper presents a four-step methodology for achieving operations resilience and emphasizes the need for a continuous, interdisciplinary effort to build and sustain it.

The first step, resilience assessment and analysis, involves conducting a thorough audit to evaluate the company's preparedness and identify any vulnerabilities. The second step centers on pinpointing and prioritizing resilience factors, developing a strategic roadmap that aligns with the company's objectives. The third step, implementing resilience measures, involves executing the strategy with short-term task forces for immediate action and medium- to long-term initiatives for ongoing improvement. The final step is establishing a continuous resilience improvement cycle, which includes ongoing monitoring and refinement of strategies.

Drawing on our industry experience and numerous projects aimed at enhancing resilience, this paper also highlights cross-functional strategies for increasing resilience across product design, manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, and cybersecurity.
